How do I become a vendor?

Anyone can be a vendor by simply having a yard sale in their yard, at their business, or setting up in a designated vendor space. Many communities have different locations where vendors from within and outside of that town or city can set up a booth.

Rent a Space

If you don't live on or near the 127 Yard Sale route, the first step is to rent a space from a Rental Space Provider. These are people who own property on the route and rent individual spaces to vendors who want to sell during the event. You must contact them directly in order to rent a space. If you'd like to rent a space to set up on, see the "Find Rental Spaces" section below to search for rental space listings by city and state. You can then contact the owner via their listing page.

Advertising Your Sale

One of the best things about the 127 Yard Sale is that it attracts hundreds of thousands of shoppers every year. Unlike a typical Saturday morning yard sale, where extensive advertising is often necessary, the event itself brings the shoppers to you.

That said, a little promotion can go a long way!

Sales Directly on the 127 Yard Sale Route

If your sale is located directly on the official route, you're already in a great position. Everyone traveling the route has the opportunity to see your sale, giving you a built-in audience throughout the event.

The exception is if your sale is set back from the road or located around a curve where shoppers may not notice you until they've already passed. In those situations, clear, easy-to-read signs can make a huge difference. Be sure to check out our free guide, The Ultimate Guide to Creating Eye-Catching 127 Yard Sale Signs, to learn how to create signs that get noticed.

Sales Located Off the Route

If your sale is on a side road, don't worry. Many shoppers are happy to venture off the main route to explore, and some even prefer discovering those hidden-gem locations.

The key is great signage.

Your signs should be easy to read and placed far enough in advance that drivers have plenty of time to safely slow down and make the turn. If shoppers don't see your signs until they're at the intersection, there's a good chance they'll continue driving.

Our free guide, The Ultimate Guide to Creating Eye-Catching 127 Yard Sale Signs, will show you how to create signs that grab attention and help lead more shoppers to your sale.

Post Your Sale in the Facebook Group

If you're selling unique, collectible, or highly sought-after items—or you simply want to attract even more shoppers—consider promoting your sale in the official 127 Yard Sale Facebook Group.

With over 114,000 (7/2026) members, it's the largest community dedicated to the event. The group is actively moderated to keep discussions on-topic, reduce spam, and ensure members can easily find helpful information.

Best of all, it's completely free. You can advertise your sale, answer shoppers' questions, share photos of the items you'll be selling, and connect with people planning their trip along the route.

When posting your sale, be sure to include:

  • The full address of your sale.
  • The dates and hours you'll be open.
  • Photos of your best or most unique items.
  • Whether you'll be accepting cash only or other forms of payment.
  • Any amenities shoppers may appreciate, such as restrooms, food vendors, or parking.

Start Promoting Early

Don't wait until the week of the event to start advertising your sale.

If possible, begin posting about your sale several months in advance. Share updates as you gather inventory, post photos of interesting items you'll have available, and remind shoppers where you'll be located. The more often people see your sale before the event, the more likely they are to add it to their itinerary.
